LOCAL RESIDENT RAISING MONEY FOR BAXENDEN

Local Resident, David Hartley, will be walking the length of the River Ribble to raise money to fund two defibrillators for his community. This adventurous walk will take him from Ribblehead in North Yorkshire and will see him walk 75 miles to the end, at the Preston Estuary. David is hoping the walk will take two and a half days to complete with roughly 30 miles to walk each day. David says, "I am  hoping to raise £3,000 which would enable me to raise enough money to buy this life saving equipment, much needed in smaller communities such as Baxenden, I have already raised over £400 through online and paper donations." He goes on to say that "Any further money raised by residents would be filtered back into the community for community groups that need it, as at the end of the day, it has been raised by the residents of Baxenden themselves." The walk will take place on the 25th August 2015, in just under a month from now. David says, "I've been training hard for this walk, trying to walk 15 miles and then back again in order to get my feet and back used to carrying all the kit needed, it'll be hard, but it's for a worthwhile cause." Hyndburn residents can donate to David by going online and sponsoring him in his mission, and of course we wish him well. To donate, please follow the link http://www.gofundme.com/yt6mrc
